We received official word today that most of the class once again didn’t do well on our second test. The only real comments made from the professor was that the class overall did better, but not by much. He also stated that there were at least 4 or 5 marks in the 90 percentile range which was an improvement from the 1 (my mark) last test.
After listening to the class chatter before class and after I am still convinced that it will take most first year students a term or two to learn how to study for a university test. It’s not that they don’t know the material, it’s that they don’t know how to study the material.
On the same note, the professor we have is used to teaching higher level courses rather then this intro course so I imagine he is following a teaching method that works best for him, for higher level students.
Due to my surgery I have made arrangements to write the test on Monday November 9, 2009.
